Visa is working hard on its major initiative, V.me, about which little details are available at this point. V.me is said to be a digital wallet service that can hold financial account information of not just Visa products but other payments products as well. The service, which is accessible both online and through a mobile phone, is supposed to help move Visa beyond a card network into a payments network that covers all types of payment services. From a Finextra article.
Mariano Dima, EVP, product and marketing solutions, Visa Europe, says: “V.me sits at the heart of Visa’s future of payments…Our intention is that V.me will ultimately be able to incorporate any or all of our new payment technologies, allowing our members to deliver the best possible payments experience whether face-to-face, online or in a mobile environment.”
Visa’s been preparing to launch new services in the North America market. And now Visa Europe has taken concrete steps for the same in the European market. It has signed WorldPay as a partner in the United Kingdom and is expected to announce more partnerships in other markets soon.
