A recent announcement made by Nets stated that it is going to be partnering with a local mobile ordering payment solution called Waitrr. For those who are unfamiliar with the application Waitrr According to its Google application summary says,
“Use Waitrr to order and pay for your food and drinks without waiting! Want to ta pau? Use Waitrr to order and pay before you arrive, then simply collect your food. Eating in? Simply place your order, scan the QR code, pay and enjoy. No more waiting in queues or fighting to get the attention of the waiter.”
“Waitrr cuts out unnecessary delays in restaurants! Spend more time focusing on your love, friends or taking beautiful photos of your food… and less time waiting.”
With this news, it would appear as though mobile ordering and pay is starting to break out of its QSR shell. Predominantly in the United States organizations like McDonald’s Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts have used the mobile order and pay technology to provide an additional vehicle for customer service. This new partnership between Nets and Waitrr is going to prove as a compelling test case for other restaurant providers and how they might be able to integrate this new vehicle into their current business model. I would expect that this is the only the tip of the iceberg as mobile order and pay begins to become more table stakes in the restaurant industry as a whole, and other restaurateurs that sit outside the QSR industry will soon likely adopt this technology as well.
