This new solution from IDEX and Feitian enables a fingerprint capable card to be sent to a user who can then self-enroll and while remote enrollment raises issues regarding KYC, it does open up new opportunities for issuers interested in adding biometrics to their security portfolio:
“The process addresses a barrier to mass deployment of biometric cards in the payment and security markets, the company says, and is secure, low-cost, and requires only a smartcard with a standard secure EMV chip without need for an external computer, internet connection, or smartphone.”
It will be interesting to determine if remote identity procedures can be established that makes this new capability particularly valuable.
