Skype, the voice over internet service provider, announced Nov. 5 that it has launched prepaid cards in the United Kingdom to let customers pay for its premium service without needing a credit or debit card.
From Engadget:
Skype today announced the availability of Skype Prepaid Cards, a new way for users in the UK to purchase Skype Credit and add premium features to the free software they already use. Skype is joined in this initiative by five of the UK’s leading high street names, with Asda, Currys, PC World, Sainsburys’ and WHSmith offering Skype Prepaid Cards in the gift card sections of their stores.
These phones could be very valuable for people looking to budget how much they spend on their telecommunications services and for immigrants and others who use Skype for long distance calling and don’t have or don’t want to use their credit or debit cards online.
