According to an article on Breakingtravelnews.com, virtual prepaid cards can solve a number of headaches associated with travel purchases. Single use virtual prepaid cards could eliminate employee misuse of travel funds, accidentally setting up anti-fraud measures, and trouble with reconciling orders, according to a piece written by Alex Mifsud, chief executive of Ixaris, a virtual card provider.
A virtual card carries all the same data as a traditional plastic card: it carries a 16-digit card number, expiry data and a 3-digit security number. The difference is that a virtual card is delivered electronically onto a computer screen at the point-of-sale.
Virtual prepaid cards have another advantage, according to Mifsud, and that is they may allow the purchasers of travel to avoid surcharges imposed by airlines on customers booking with credit or debit cards, particularly in Europe.
