A new CPPO survey has found that yet again this holiday season, Canadians from coast-to-coast continue to covet and plan to give the ultimate gift of choice and flexibility: prepaid cards that can be used wherever and whenever they want.

When it comes to making their holiday wish list, three times more Canadians prefer to receive a prepaid card from Mastercard, American Express or Visa (68%) than a retail gift card (23%) because they can use it wherever and whenever they want vs. in one specific store. And when it comes to doing their holiday shopping, half of Canadians (50%) plan on purchasing up to two prepaid gift card this holiday season.

The 2016 annual What Canadians Really Want: Holiday Gift Trends, conducted by the Canadian Prepaid Providers Organization (CPPO), found that almost half (41%) of Canadians have received a retail gift card they didn’t want and almost half (41%) didn’t even use them.
