Prepaid cards that run on Restricted Authorization Networks(RANs) allow companies to direct cardholder spending while still permitting purchases at multiple merchants. InteliSpend, the company that holds the patent on which many of the networks operate such programs, will soon provide a MasterCard offering that will help companies implement wellness programs and reward employees for participating in them. This could lead more companies to offer these kinds of programs if it makes implementation easier to manage both for employees and company sponsors.
Employees could soon find it easier to participate in corporate wellness initiatives, thanks to a new MasterCard debit card from InteliSpend. In a statement to reporters, IntelliSpend CEO Darryl Hutson announced that his company would make its MasterCard Wellness Prepaid Card available to corporate clients in the first quarter of 2011.
