From Finextra:
PNC is to offer V.me to more than 1.2 million PNC Virtual Wallet customer accounts, with a commitment to make the technology available to more than 6.3 million accounts in 2013.
Registered users can make secure online payments to participating merchants with just a username and password, removing the hassle of having to enter card account number, bill-to and ship-to information for every transaction.
Alongside PNC, Visa has signed its largest e-commerce partner to date, adding 1-800-flowers to a select list of 24 online merchants currently accepting the service.
The topics of mobile payments, virtual wallets, and mobile wallets are written about daily. Consequently, virtual wallets and NFC capabilities are constantly being bandied about, and many consumers may not fully understand the promise that each technology offers.
By offering tangible products such as the Visa Virtual Wallet and similar solutions, customers in Europe will soon have a chance to experience these solutions first hand, allowing customers in the U.S. and other countries the chance to see what’s on the horizon. And while various product configurations will likely make the market in the coming years, consumers will have a chance to choose those solutions that are most relevant and valuable to them.
